Text Box: SPEECH Purpose: To provide a challenge to students to excel in public speaking and encourage high standards in speech content, organization and delivery. Participation: Boys and girls in grades 3-12 participate separately. K-2nd grade may speak, but will not be judged. Speeches relate to the annual convention theme and range in length from three to six minutes. Specific time requirements differ by age (see rules book). Men are not allowed in the rooms when the girls are speaking at convention. Awards: Trophies are given to finalists, first, second and third place winners in each grade.
