2009 Convention Rules Changes
We listened to you!

Over the past several months, we have evaluated feedback which we received from over 400 survey responses. The surveys were supplied to families and church leaders, all participants of Lads to Leaders & Leaderettes in various locations across the country.

We are excited about the positive comments, and we carefully studied the suggestions which seem to be repeated by those participating in the survey.

The request to refine the convention award ceremonies is a top priority. We must take into account that the duration of time applied to the award ceremonies is a factor upon families with small children, as well as our senior supporters. All of us have witnessed the effects of a lengthy ceremony.

Other important comments taken into action are:

	1) Additional education/training materials, books, curriculums, more focus on K-5th
	2) Enhanced event judging materials, new training & certifications
	3) Rule adjustments for the Advanced Events, promote year-round program at the local level
	4) Strengthening the local church, focus on growth, event for “Classroom Bible Teachers” being developed
	5) Improved website flexibility & accessibility
	6) Let’s not forget – “More Hotel Rooms and More Convention Sites”

Please review the Rules Book for changes and do not overlook adjustments to the events and event forms. May we suggest that your family, group or congregation begin this year with a fresh start by printing & distributing a complete rules set. This will ensure you are working within the most recent set of rules.

Also, given the blessings of convention growth, new category consolidation (included in the Rules Book changes) will enable us to secure time required for special events or future awards not yet developed or identified.

Our improvement efforts are without an end, and we will continue to invest in our youth to ensure spiritual growth and Christian development through program refinements, such as our Junior Leader Book for K-5th grade.

We encourage you to continue speaking with us. Friendly voices, especially those with concerns, are critical to program growth and support to the local congregation.

Keep an eye to the website, more to come……
Lads to Leaders & Leaderettes Convention Rules Committee

The Official Convention Rules Book has been updated to include all of the changes and additions that will be in effect for the 2009 convention.  Please discard any previous versions of rules books.  Listed below are the events that have had changes made to them.  Please review these sections carefully as you plan for the 2009 convention.  Because we are not printing large quantities of rules books, we will update it for each convention year.  Please click here (or the button below) for the free download of the rules book in PDF format.  If you do not have the latest version of the free Adobe Reader software, the rules book will NOT download properly.  Click the link at the bottom of this page and follow the instructions to update your Adobe Reader software. Please note that the rules book file is large and may take a few minutes to download to your computer.  You can then save it and print it as needed.  Please feel free to share it with everyone in your congregation that needs it.
Although all convention registration is done through our website, the following PDF forms can be printed and used by group leaders to collect registration information from their congregations: Adult Registration, Student Registration, and Hotel Reservation Requests. Links are below.
Puppet Theater Stage Plan is also available for viewing in the Portable Document Format (PDF). Click buttons below for stage drawing with dimensions or pictures of a completed puppet stage.
If you are not familiar with PDF files or the Adobe Acrobat Reader, continue reading below to learn more or to download and install the free Acrobat Reader.

Why we use the Portable Document Format
The Portable Document Format provides consistent viewing and printing quality across numerous computer platforms and web browsers. This is the best way to ensure that you can view and print our documents with the same layout and quality as the originals. PDF files typically have the .pdf extension in their file name (i.e. rulebook.pdf).
How to get the free Acrobat Reader
The free Adobe Acrobat Reader allows you to view, navigate, and print Portable Document Format (.pdf) files. If you don't have this program, or if your Acrobat Reader version is prior to Acrobat Reader 7, you must download and run the installer to view these flyers.
This installer will install the Acrobat Reader program as well as plug-ins for Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer, allowing it to operate as a stand-alone program or viewer within your web browser.
To get your free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader, click on the button to the left. After downloading the installer, you will need to quit your web browser, run the installer, launch your web browser, and return to our website. We recommend you bookmark our website now to make returning easier.
