Year-Round Events

Text Box: YEAR-ROUND (ADVANCED) BULLETIN BOARD Purpose: This a year-round, non-competitive individual event completed at the home congregation. The purpose of Year-Round (Advanced) Bulletin Board is to have participants train to become adept at decorating bulletin boards for the local congregation. Participation: Students in grades 3-12, as well as Adults are eligible for participation. There are three levels of participation based on the number of new bulletin boards created from convention deadline to convention deadline ~ Bronze - 4 bulletin boards; Silver - 8 bulletin boards; Gold - 12 bulletin boards. Awards: Participants will be recognized at Convention. YEAR-ROUND (ADVANCED) BIBLE READING Purpose: To further develop oral Bible reading skills and increase opportunities to serve. Participation: Students in grades 3-college may participate. There are five levels of participation—Student Reader, Servant Reader, Skilled Reader, Master Reader and Accomplished Reader. Each level builds on the skills honed in the past, and becomes more challenging. Students complete one level per year. Convention attendance is not required. Awards: Students who complete each level are recognized with an award at convention. YEAR-ROUND (ADVANCED) PUPPETEERING Purpose: An established team of puppeteers prepares and presents at least 10 presentations during the year as a teaching tool to reach out to the community. Examples: Vacation Bible School, children’s training classes, inner city ministries, hospitals, mission trips, nursing homes, schools, etc. Practice sessions do not count toward the total. Participation: Boys and girls in grades 3-12 participate together in teams of up to twelve students. Convention attendance is not required. Awards: A Bronze, Silver or Gold award will be given depending on the number of presentations made. YEAR-ROUND (ADVANCED) SPEECH Purpose: To prepare students to be accomplished speakers and Bible class teachers by delivering speeches to worship assemblies, Bible classes, devotional groups or other appropriate audiences. Participation: Students in grades 3-college prepare 6 brief speeches (a minimum of three minutes each) and deliver them each two, three or four times to different audiences. Convention attendance is not required. Awards: Students are recognized with a Bronze award for giving their speeches a total of 12 times, a Silver award for a total of 18 times or a Gold award for a total of 24 times. YEAR-ROUND (ADVANCED) SONG LEADING & SONGS OF PRAISE Purpose: To prepare young men to be accomplished song leaders by requiring them to lead songs for worship assemblies, Bible classes, devotional groups or other appropriate audiences such as civic clubs or schools. To prepare young women to be accomplished song leaders by requiring them to lead songs for Ladies’ Bible classes, Ladies devotional groups, Ladies’ Day audiences and other appropriate audiences. Participation: Open to students from grades 3-college. Convention attendance is not required. Awards: A Bronze, Silver, and Gold award will be given at convention based on the participants meeting the individual requirements as set forth in the rules book.

Refer to the rules book for the guidelines for these events and a list of the items that need to be turned into the National Service Center by the registration deadline.
